Laudium CPF Statement: Vehicle Theft Incident at Kismet Spar

Earlier today, a vehicle was reported stolen from outside Kismet Spar in Laudium. Members of the Laudium CPF, Laudium SAPS, and the tracking company immediately responded and worked together to locate the vehicle. The last known location of the vehicle, according to the tracker, was in Atteridgeville.

Upon reaching the location with SAPS and other law enforcement agencies, it was discovered that the tracking unit had been removed from the vehicle. The unit was found at the scene, indicating a deliberate attempt by the suspects to halt further tracking.

Law enforcement is actively investigating the matter and has obtained leads on the suspects involved. We are confident that a breakthrough in the case will occur soon.

Understanding the Roles: SAPS vs CPF

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is the official national law enforcement agency responsible for preventing, combating, and investigating crime, maintaining public order, and protecting and securing the inhabitants of South Africa.

The Community Policing Forum (CPF) is a civilian structure made up of volunteers from the local community who work in partnership with SAPS. CPF assists by promoting safety, reporting suspicious activities, and fostering collaboration between the police and the community.

While SAPS handles investigations and enforcement, CPF plays a support and liaison role to strengthen crime prevention efforts on the ground.

Important Notice to Social Media Group Admins:

We urge all administrators of community social media platforms, especially those circulating BOLO (Be On the Lookout) messages, to refrain from adding yourselves or others as contact persons in such posts unless officially authorized. You are not part of law enforcement, and unauthorized actions can jeopardize ongoing investigations.

This is a stern warning to all admins: posting BOLOs without coordination with CPF or SAPS is irresponsible and potentially dangerous. Please act responsibly and allow law enforcement to do their work professionally.

We thank the community for their continued support and cooperation and urge all residents to be extra vigilant.
