Congratulations to Councillor Naeem Patel

Issued by the Laudium CPF

The Laudium Community Policing Forum (CPF) extends its appreciation and congratulations to Ward 61 Councillor Naeem Patel for his role as Acting Chair of the City of Tshwane Council during a critical sitting on Thursday, June 26, 2025.

While earlier reports may have suggested a permanent appointment, we would like to clarify that Councillor Patel acted as Speaker (Chair of the Council) only for the duration of the motion of no confidence against the current Speaker, Mncedi Ndzwanana. This was a temporary role, undertaken with composure, neutrality, and professionalism.

Despite the short duration, this moment remains significant as it reflects the confidence placed in Councillor Patel to preside over an important council session—a responsibility entrusted to him by a broad and diverse coalition of councillors. It was also a proud moment for Ward 61, as he became the first councillor from our ward to chair such a session in the City of Tshwane Council.

Councillor Patel’s dedication to public service, his commitment to democratic processes, and his continued support for community structures such as the CPF, remain deeply valued. His efforts to strengthen cooperation between residents, law enforcement, and local government are commendable, and his presence in council continues to serve the interests of our community with integrity.

We remain proud to work alongside Councillor Patel in advancing the values of safety, service delivery, and community upliftment in Ward 61.

Well done, Councillor Patel. Your leadership—both in council and in our community—is a source of pride for us all.
