Laudium, Pretoria — Saturday, 9 August 2025
The Laudium Community Policing Forum (CPF) proudly supported the fifth annual Imaan Abdul Rahman Special Needs Awareness Fun Walk, hosted by Little People’s Learning Academy. What began as a walk has grown into a vibrant Family Fun Day that champions inclusion and community building—and we were honoured to help make it safe, smooth and welcoming for everyone.
Our role on the day
To ensure families and children of all abilities could participate with confidence, CPF members and Patrollers along with members from Laudium Disaster Management:
- Assisted with route planning and risk checks ahead of the event.
- Deployed marshals at key intersections and pedestrian crossings.
- Coordinated radio communications with event marshals and Laudium Disaster Management.
- Supported basic first-response readiness and directed participants to water points and assistance areas.
- Helped manage crowd flow around the mini soccer and volleyball zones, designed to include children and families of all abilities—including those living with cerebral palsy, autism, and Down syndrome.
Our focus throughout was dignified support, visible presence, and calm coordination so that the day’s message—inclusion, acceptance and unity—could shine.
Community partnership
This success reflects the strength of local partnerships. We acknowledge and thank the Laudium Football Association, Laudium Volleyball Association, Pretoria Muslim Youth Brigade, Laudium Disaster Management, and Ward Councillor Naeem Patel for their collaboration, and we commend Little People’s Learning Academy for its inclusive ethos and tireless advocacy.
Why this matters
Safety is more than incident response—it’s about belonging. When neighbours gather in support of children with diverse abilities, we build trust, reduce barriers, and make our public spaces friendlier for all. The awareness and funds raised will support the Academy’s inclusive programmes and resources for learners and families.
The Laudium CPF thanks every organiser, volunteer, parent, sponsor and learner who made this year’s event a warm celebration of community. We look forward to supporting future initiatives that promote accessibility, compassion and active citizenship.
